2nd “Networks, Complexity, and Economic Development” workshop

June 8 – 9 2017, Budapest

 

The Economics of Networks Research Unit at Centre for Economic and Regional Studies of Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Centre for Labor Economics of Corvinus University is pleased to announce the 2nd workshop on “Networks, Complexity, and Economic Development”.

 

Keynote speaker:

Roberta Sinatra

„Quantifying the evolution of individual scientific impact”

 

Michael Szell

Central European University CNS, Hungarian Academy of Sciences CSS

„Assessing the potential of urban ride-sharing economies”

 

Frank Neffke is fellow of the Harvad Kennedy School, Center for International Development. His research focuses on the economics of regional transformation, worker skills, firm diversification and agglomeration economies. 

Michaell Szell is research fellow at Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Centre for Social Sciences, and visiting at Northeastern University, Center for Complex Network Research, at Central European University, Center for Network Science, and at the Complexity Science Hub Vienna. His research focuses on urban and online environments and media.

Roberta Sinatra is assistant professor at Center for Network Science and Math Department of the

Central European University. Her current research includes “Data-driven predictions in the science of science” and “Quantifying the evolution of individual scientific impact” published in Science.

Call

We invite PhD students, and early career researchers from economics, sociology, geography, computational social science, and network science to present a paper and discuss future research.

Papers that address the following topics are particularly (but not exclusively) welcome:

  • Proximity and economic development
  • Diversification, regional development and transformation
  • Networks and labor market
  • Innovation and spreading
  • Economic networks
  • Human mobility and networks
  • Networks of international trade
  • Social networks and performance

The workshop is open to the public; however, due to place limitations, registration is required.

Abstract submission

The workshop language is English, participation is free of charge. An abstract of 400-600 words should be sent to László Lőrincz (lorincz.laszlo@krtk.mta.hu). Please, indicate in your submission if you are interested to present your work in a poster session as well.
