Short Bio
Anna Burger has graduated at the University of Agriculture, GödöllÅ‘ in 1953. She received Ph.D. degree at the Karl Marx University of Economics, Budapest in 1964. Her PH.D. dissertation was "Some economic problems of consumer's services". She received D.Sc. degree of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1970. Her D.Sc. dissertation was "The role of agriculture in the growth of economy". She became professor at the University of Horticulture, Budapest in 1972. She was professor the University of Szeged from 1987 to 2001 and retired from there. Her research fields are the followings: consumer's services, the role of agriculture in economic growth, land valuation, land tenure, international economy and international agriculture. She has written 14 books and about 150 articles and studies, which were published in Hungary and abroad. She was lecturing in many foreign universities and gave lectures in many conferences. She was fellow of the Economic Commission of Europe of the United Nations in 1966-67, and visiting researcher at the University of Oxford, Institute of Agricultural Economics in 1967 and in FAL Institute, Braunschweig in 1997. She is member of many Hungarian and foreign professional organizations and was official of some of them. She was associate researcher of the Institute of Economics from 2001 to 2008.
