Short Bio
Tamás Bauer is a senior research fellow in the Institute of Economics which he rejoined in 2002 after being a member of the Hungarian Parliament on behalf of the Alliance of Free Democrats for eight years. He graduated in 1968 from the Marx Károly University of Economics and joined the Institute immediately. He has been a Professor of Economics at the University of Frankfurt am Main, Germany since 1988 where he teaches comparative economics. During the seventies and eighties he advised Hungarian authorities on economic reforms, and he used to be a leading economist of the Alliance of Free Democrats. His research interest focuses on comparative study of reforms and transition in the former communist countries of East Central Europe.
